Door Creek Orchard is the perfect place to stop for a health afternoon snack. Pick apples directly off the tree or head to their homebased barn for pre-picked apples. Their barn holds countless apple bins, t shirts, gifts, honey, and an apple dessert corner. Door Creek is open from September through November.
As you head west looking for the perfect place to wind down with a drink—only one place comes to mind—the Old Fashioned. If you’re looking for a cold micro beer or a classic old fashioned this is the place to be. The Old Fashioned is located right on the Capitol Square and just minutes from your hotel!
A good hearty breakfast is absolutely essential as you begin your final stretch west. We’ve picked the Pancake Café in Fitchburg which was voted Madison Magazine, “Best of Madison” for 13 years straight! They serve both breakfast and lunch in case you decided to sleep in! The final stop on your fall road trip is at Botham Vineyards and Winery in Barneveld, Wisconsin. As you travel west you’ll melt while looking out the car window. Stunning rock formations, rolling hills, and colorful tress make for one memorable fall road trip. At Botham, you’ll find some of Wisconsin’s best wine, fun Fall events, and a lovely tasting room. Step outside and take a look around the beautiful scenery of the vineyard in the heart of fall.
