History

The idea for Metropolis Resort started over twenty years ago with a family in Eau Claire. As Mark and Julie Steil raised their daughter, they found the fun in this town to be limited to movies and bowling and decided that Eau Claire could use a little Action and a little Chaos. With his experience in construction and contracting, Mark began to draw out his visions for a place that he and his daughter would find fun. It was during this process that Mark met Tom and Shirley Hahn, a local grocer and restauranteur couple, who agreed on the need and they became partners. After a nationwide tour of attractions and years of planning, Action City opened in 2005, followed by Metropolis Hotel and Chaos waterpark in 2008 with their third partner couple, Deb and Kerry Kjelstad. Two years later, Metropolis Resort was created as one business out of the combination of the three.

Clean rooms, tons of fun in the arcade and at the water park. The trampoline park and ninja warrior course were a blast for our kid, even for our youngest at 5 years old. The staff is really great. They definitely go out of their way to make sure you have a good time during your stay, especially for the kids. We will be back for sure!!

We had a great time! Great room--comfortable and practical with a microwave and mini-fridge, and even a coffee pot. And the family vacation deal included unlimited passes for most things we wanted to do. The Pub and the Monkey in the Middle pizza place were both good food and very reasonably priced. Good deal and lots of fun!

Great family fun center, they recently got rid of all of the inexpensive food options in favor of serving only pizza, or driving people into the way more expensive pub. Very crowded, and busy every weekend, but that's to be expected. They have both indoor and outdoor go-karts, mini golf, batting cages, an arcade, bumper cars, laser tag, trampoline park, and a water park all under one roof. The hotel rooms are all clean and we'll kept, and relatively modern. Not only do they have the standard 2 bed rooms, they also have a few hot tub rooms, larger family rooms with 4-6 beds, and some huge themed bunk rooms that can sleep 20-30 for large groups.

We booked the night and cabana to celebrate our daughter's Tenth birthday. The staff were nice and everything that was promised was provided. My observation is a considerable investment is needed to renew the water park. Currently, it lives up to it's name, "Chaos." It is not dirty but worn. It could certainly be better lit. All in all a good place. I cannot rate it high in the current condition. Best of luck on your renovation.

Once a year for our anniversary my husband and I take a week off vacation. We stay at a nice hotel and enjoy local attractions. This year we decided to stay local. I switched from a less expensive hotel when I got a deal here. Big mistake. The website stated that one of the annemities was an indoor pool. Not so. We came and checked in and discovered the pool was actually in the Chaos Water park. With all of the kids running around and all of the loud noise from fans and water slides and everything else. The pool has basketball hoops in it with kids splashing around. It was so upsetting that the hotel didn't have it's own pool and hot tub. We've stayed in cheap hotels with their own pools! Also, no breakfast. You have to order from the restaurant. No breakfast? The cheapest hotels even have fruit or muffins at least. The bed was hard lumpy. Walls very thin too. Sadly, we will never come here again. Families who are looking for water park hotels will like it. People who think it's a nice place for a special occasion should think otherwise. Disappointed.
