History

The idea for Metropolis Resort started over twenty years ago with a family in Eau Claire. As Mark and Julie Steil raised their daughter, they found the fun in this town to be limited to movies and bowling and decided that Eau Claire could use a little Action and a little Chaos. With his experience in construction and contracting, Mark began to draw out his visions for a place that he and his daughter would find fun. It was during this process that Mark met Tom and Shirley Hahn, a local grocer and restauranteur couple, who agreed on the need and they became partners. After a nationwide tour of attractions and years of planning, Action City opened in 2005, followed by Metropolis Hotel and Chaos waterpark in 2008 with their third partner couple, Deb and Kerry Kjelstad. Two years later, Metropolis Resort was created as one business out of the combination of the three.

Staff super nice. Swimming area is small and could have more for bigger kids to do in the pool area. The games are endless. We had a lot of fun. I can't wait to go again.

Crowded at times and can be very pricey, but definitely gives the kids TONS of things to do. We love that they put a trampoline park in as that has quickly become our boys very part of this location. I do however highly recommend this area remained staffed and that the staff remain attentive.

This hotel amenities were pretty decent until we went to bed. Our neighbors who we asked politely to keep their noise level down literally started cursing at us and calling us various names. They continued to harasse us (yelling through the walls and pounding on our door) while us and our children trying to sleep. This went on until 2-3am. We initially asked at 11:30pm to keep it down. We called front desk and recieved attitude from management. We asked for a room refund so we could relocate however the manager refused. We frequently visit hotels and I would not recommend staying over in this one. Day pass only. Limit you risk. Our children were fearful from the continued harassment. 100% honest review. 1-12-2018. 2 adults 4 children. I am writing this to potentially save another family from a similar experience. Bunch of drunks in the hallway. Our room smelled like sewer and they offered ion air spray. Wallpaper was ripped on the wall. Our beds were so hard. This was just a staycation. It was my wedding anniversary so we took our little one with us to have a night away. We were ready to just go home to get some sleep. Something happened with the pool area so we were given an option of 100 in action city or trampoline park options. Wont be going here ever again.
