History

The idea for Metropolis Resort started over twenty years ago with a family in Eau Claire. As Mark and Julie Steil raised their daughter, they found the fun in this town to be limited to movies and bowling and decided that Eau Claire could use a little Action and a little Chaos. With his experience in construction and contracting, Mark began to draw out his visions for a place that he and his daughter would find fun. It was during this process that Mark met Tom and Shirley Hahn, a local grocer and restauranteur couple, who agreed on the need and they became partners. After a nationwide tour of attractions and years of planning, Action City opened in 2005, followed by Metropolis Hotel and Chaos waterpark in 2008 with their third partner couple, Deb and Kerry Kjelstad. Two years later, Metropolis Resort was created as one business out of the combination of the three.

We had a wonderful time! We were there for a wedding and the wedding coordinator did a wonderful job. The staff were helpful and friendly. The only problem I had was with the room. It seems they put queen size sheets on a king size bed, so the sheet kept coming up off the corners. And the side table lamp did not work. It was totally broken into pieces. But, I would definitely stay there again and recommend others to do so also. I say thank you to the staff for a wonderful weekend! Everyone of you were great!

We stayed for almost a week for a wedding. The room was very nice, included a kitchenette and safe, the water pressure and temperature was great, beds were comfy, service was fantastic, they were super friendly and always checked if we needed anything. The restaurant downstairs was actually very tasty, and it's got the water park and action City next door, to which they gave us coupons and passes. We had the wedding reception at the hotel, and it was a very nice place to have it, even though it was right next to the water park, you couldn't hear anything from it. They have a nice shop for things you might have missed, as well as souveniers. 5 stars, would definitely stay again.

Stayed for almost a week, came for a wedding. Was a really nice hotel with great staff. Front desk was always very friendly and accommodating. The pub had great food, and friendly staff. The housekeeping was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The reception hall was very nice and overlooked the water park. Would definitely stay there again, especially with the group rate (half).

This place is so much fun to bring kids to. You can go to the waterpark and have the convenience of going back to your hotel room for meals or breaks. The rock climbing, arcade, bumper cars and go karts were a great time also! We ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious. We will definitely come again. Wisconsin people are so friendly and welcoming!

Very good place for a quick getaway. Waterpark is definitely kid friendly. Hotel is good. Food is a little overpriced and not very good. Waterpark is very loud. Everything is very clean. Hotel was great. Staff was very nice. They need more elevators.
