The Mequon Nature Preserve has so much to offer, I barely feel like we are scraping the surface! Milwaukee metro has amazing nature centers in general, but this one is just so stinking close by! There are many miles of trails, observation towers, and exhibits. The central building is an amazing facility and definitely worth spending time in, when you are here.

I love this place! Absolutely beautiful in the spring, fall, and especially summer. Perfect size for a ≥1 hour walk depending on the paths you take. The lookout tower is a perfect feature there, at the heart of open fields and sparse forests. On clear days, you can even see the U.S. Bank building downtown Milwaukee through the telescopes at the top. The tower goes up maybe four or five stories so be sure not to trip going on the stairs!

Mequon nature preserve is a great place to go for a walk or run. It's dog-friendly and it's big enough that you're not constantly walking into other people. If you get there during the right hours, there's an education building with turtles, frogs, etc to look at.

Pretty. Sometimes the transmission lines running through the middle spoil the nature, but you stop noticing them quickly.
