Door County Triathlon

The Door County Peninsula is often referred to as the “Cape Cod of the Midwest.” This popular Midwestern tourist destination offers an abundance of lodging, dining, shopping and entertainment options. The sandy shorelines and majestic bluffs along Green Bay north of Sturgeon Bay provide an ideal setting for a triathlon.

5:30 am – Fields open for parking
6:00 am – Transition area opens
6:00 am – Race day Sprint Tri packet pick-up begins
7:00 am – Sprint Tri announcements begin
7:30 am – Race day Sprint Tri packet pick-up closes
7:45 am – Transition area closes
7:50 am – Final Course Updates (Beach)
7:55 am – National Anthem
8:00 am – Start Of Sprint Distance Event
9:00 am – Last Sprint Distance Swim Wave
11:30 am – Sprint Awards Ceremony (entertainment stage)
Noon – Sprint Course Closes (4 hour time limit)
Noon – Half Iron packet pickup opens
All afternoon – Digital course talks (pavilion)
2:00 pm – Door County Medical Center Kids’ Triathlon
6:00 pm – Half Iron packet pick up closesron packet pick up closes

Course:

The short course includes a ¼ mile swim that travels just past the end of the pier (12 ft. depth), turns left and heads towards the boat launch. The bike and run courses for this event are extremely flat and “first-timer friendly.” The bike course travels down Bay Shore Drive (County Highway B) to Old Stone Quarry Park before turning back. The run course travels up and back on Egg Harbor Road (County Highway G).
